Happy Valentines Day from Miller Farms Market!

Lot’s of desserts are being made today with #STRAWBERRIES.  Makes us wish that we had fresh strawberries available for you!  Strawberry season will be here in May.  As we get towards the last week of April, keep an eye on our Facebook page and our website for updates on the progress of our Strawberry patch.  The plants look great now!  We are still going through the patch and pulling weeds and pulling off dead flowers and dead leaves.  Getting the plants ready to start growing.  The strawberry plants are in a dormant phase right now, waiting on longer day length to begin growing again.  In about 2 weeks we’ll start sending fertilizer through the drip tape to prepare the strawberry plants for growing.  Once they start to flower, then we play the chess game with the weather.  We have to pull the covers on and off to protect the flowers from frost.  Once flowering begins, we have about a 35 day wait until we pick the first berry.  Strawberry season begins with us picking a few quarts as they become ready for about a week or 10 days, then we get to open the patch for pick your own!  Remember at Miller Farms, we have Free Parking, Free Admission, Free Southern Hospitality, Free Fresh Air, and Park at the patch convenience.  We are on our Winter Hours of Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays 9am-5pm until the end of February.  March 1, we resume our regular hours of Mondays-Saturdays 9am-5pm.  #CSAsignups online now or at the Market on our Farm when we are open.
