Yes, that’s right! We have Strawberry flowers in November. Don’t get too excited because there isn’t time for them to make a strawberry. Still thought it was pretty cool to see and share. This particular variety, Sweet Charlie, will flower in the Fall if it is warm enough. Farther south, growers are able to get these blooms to fruit. It takes 35 days to go from flower to strawberry in the Springtime, when the days are getting warmer and longer. In the Fall, the days are getting shorter and cooler. A frost will burn off these flowers. We can cover the blooms and protect them from a frost, however we won’t be able to protect them against a freeze. 35-40 days will put us mid to late December and we all know what the weather can be like then. The Strawberry plants look great and very healthy. We are looking forward to late April and May when we can actually pick strawberries! Milk comes today! Check out the Fridges for fresh produce! And Check out the Fridges and baking racks for JoJo’s homemade baking. Sweet Potatoes, Butternut, Honey Nut, Spaghetti Squash, Acorn Squash, Red Hubbard, Kabocha, and baking pumpkins!
