Care of Fresh Cut Trees in the Home

12376009_948753551858218_3507344907311845209_nTree freshness is always a concern. At Miller Farms, we provide the freshest trees possible.  We have many trees in our choose and cut patch to choose from.  If you are interested in Fraser Firs, we have those here as well.  Many trees are cut at the end of October and placed in cold storage.  Our Premium Fresh Cut Fraser Firs are grown on our cousin’s farm, Willow Springs, in Christiansburg Va. When the trees are cut at Willow Springs, the sap seals off the trunk.  All of our trees are kept in the shade at our farm to keep them from drying out.  Once you select your tree, we make a fresh cut across the base of the trunk for you.  When you get home you need to place it in water.  If you aren’t going to put it up right away, then just place it in a bucket of water until you are ready.  Use a tree stand that will hold a gallon or more of water. A fresh tree may take up three or more quarts of water a day for the first few days after it is placed in water. Check your tree at least twice a day until the water usage slows down.  Do not place the tree near a source of heat and never let the water level in the bowl drop below the base of the tree. Make sure light cords are in good working order and are turned off when you go to bed or leave the house.  Merry Christmas from all of us here at Miller Farms!
