It’s time to get started cleaning the Strawberry patch and getting it ready for the 2017 Season. Normally the strawberry patch is covered this time of year, however with the mild winter that we are having we haven’t covered it yet. This Saturday we plan on pulling the covers out into the patch to get ready in case we need them. In the winter time, the covers are mainly used to keep the crowns of the plant from freezing. The snow we had a couple weeks ago was enough to protect the crowns from the low of 3 degrees we had. So now we are going through the patch row by row and plant by plant pulling off the dead leaves and runners that the plants put out in the Fall. We can get rid of a lot of potential for disease by doing this. It will take about a week to go through the whole patch, but it is well worth it. Milk from Trickling Springs Creamery has arrived. Restocked on all of your favorites. And now is the time to Sign up for Miller Farms #CSA for the 2017 season. See you at the Farm!
