The old Elm Tree at Miller Farms

The old elm tree at the farm had to be taken down. It has been diseased for many years now. Every storm that passed would drop a few more branches into the yard. Most folks date the Tree back into the mid 1800’s. The first picture we have of the Tree dates to the mid 1940’s when my Grandpa Willard Miller first came to the farm, and it was a big tree then. The original barn can be seen in the background. The barn is still here, with many additions over the years. The structure in the front is the current well and pump house. This was a massive tree. The stump is about 16ft or so in height and almost 8 ft in diameter. We will sure miss the shade and memories of the old tree.
