Hey Folks, Check it out! STRAWBERRY BLOOMS! Yes, that’s right our Early Variety of Strawberries, Sweet Charlies, have BLOOMS on them. If we are able to protect them from FROST and or FREEZE, we’ll have some Pre-Picked STRAWBERRIES available by Mid April. We have a couple of Rows of Sweet Charlies which we covered up with row covers yesterday. Frost coming Monday morning and Tuesday morning. The rest of the patch is uncovered as it is not in bloom yet. This time of year we begin the “row cover dance” as we keep an eye on the weather and watch for Frost. Row covers on, row covers off. Row covers on, row covers off. FROST will burn the blooms and then we have to wait for new blooms to form. It’s approximately 30-35 days from bloom to STRAWBERRY depending on the weather.
